for the Poor Foundation

Brooke Logsdon, UC law student, & Jacob Samad, VLP attorney, assist a client.

The Volunteer Lawyers Project works in partnership with the Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati to provide free effective civil legal assistance to low-income clients.
We actively recruit private attorneys to accept case referrals pro bono, and collaborate with local bar associations in our seven county service area to promote our pro bono program. We also conduct ongoing training for the private attorneys who volunteer with us. Our two-pronged approach ensures we are both identifying individuals who need our help and maintaining our capacity to meet this community need.

VLP attorneys work to secure justice for the disadvantaged and protect the rights of those most in need. VLP attorneys have made a significant difference to the lives of low-income individuals and families in the Greater Cincinnati community. Last year, VLP attorneys donated almost 6,000 hours of pro bono legal services and closed 2,584 cases.

“The work for VLP is very fulfilling. Many times in the law, litigants don’t appreciate how hard the attorney works. For the most part, VLP customers are very appreciative to have an experienced attorney represent them. Without attorneys donating their time, VLP customers would be unable to afford good representation. Giving of time is easy to do and does the most good for society.”
