New Leadership for the Volunteer Lawyer’s Project
Jessica Ramos recently joined Legal Aid as a Senior Attorney and Manager of the Volunteer Lawyer’s Project. She started her public interest law career at Advocates for Basic Legal Equality (ABLE), another Ohio Legal Aid organization. Jessica spent eleven years at ABLE, most recently in their Dayton office.
She received her BA, cum laude, and MA from the Ohio State University. Jessica received her JD, cum laude, from the University of Toledo College of Law. Jessica is an immigration law specialist, and has experience in tax and family law.
“I am excited at the prospect of expanding services to those in need,” noted Jessica. “Filling the access to justice gap is a critical goal for the VLP.”
While at ABLE, Jessica was an adjunct professor of immigration law at University of Dayton School of Law, and an adjunct professor of Spanish at Sinclair Community College. In 2020, Jessica was the recipient of the Ohio Chapter of American Immigration Lawyers Association Pro Bono Champion award.
